Immediate Aftercare
- Wait 1 hour before removing the wrap.
- Once removed, wash the tattoo with antibacterial soap and warm water.
- Air dry before applying a thin layer of Aquaphor.
- Apply Aquaphor twice a day for the first 3 days.
After 3 Days
- Switch from Aquaphor to an unscented lotion.
- Apply a thin layer twice a day until healed.
- Wash as needed.
After 5 Days
- Expect dryness and scabbing.
- Do not pick or scratch the tattoo.
- If itchy, pat lightly with your hand.
- Scabbing will last about 1.5 weeks.
- Continue using antibacterial soap and lotion.
- Your tattoo should be fully healed within a month.
What NOT to Do
- No soaking (pools, baths, lakes, etc.).
- Avoid scratching or picking at the scabs.
- Keep the tattoo clean and avoid dirt.
- Stay out of direct sunlight and avoid tanning.
- Do not sleep directly on the tattoo.
- Avoid excessive sweating.
When You Can Resume Activities
- Gym: 4 days after or when the scab falls off.
- Lake/Swimming: 2 weeks after.
- Sauna: 1 week after.
- Sunscreen: 3 weeks after.
Before Your Tattoo Appointment
- Sleep: Get 6-8 hours of rest to ease the session.
- Food: Eat 1-2 hours before your session and bring snacks.
- Devices: Bring headphones for distraction.
- Clothes: Wear appropriate clothing (tank tops for arm tattoos, shorts for leg tattoos, etc.).
- ID: Bring identification such as a passport or ID.
